Odox 3: A New War Empty Odox 3: A New War

Post by Cal Wed Nov 14, 2012 1:15 am

In Odox 1, a few chosen heroes were summoned to this mystical world through their dreams in order to defeat the malicious Beast. They mastered extraordinary abilities and struggled with personal growth, but in the end they were victorious.
In Odox 2, the surviving heroes that slaughtered Beast, had evolved into Demigods and ruled Odox with an iron fist, due to Medusa's manipulation. They became so blinded with their insane amount of power that an Apocalypse was near. New heroes stood up against them and took them down.

Today, Odox is filled with heroes. Each of them has unique abilities, but to prevent the rise of new Demigods, their abilities have been limited. Much has changed in the landscape of Odox, but as always, evil is lurking...

Kjolmar was standing on top of a snow-covered mountain. There was a blizzard going on, but it felt like a strong breeze to him. He was looking down in the distance but could see little beyond a white landscape. Behind him, someone appeared out of nowhere and looked confused at her whereabouts. "Sorry!", the girl said, "I am still trying to get the hang of this teleportation thing." And with those words, she vanished again. Kjolmar sighed deeply. The only reason he had came to this freezing place was to be alone, to think and reflect. He had never been the type that liked the cold, so no one would think of looking for him in such a place. But teleporters gone wild was something he couldn't foresee.

Suddenly something caught his attention. There was a movement in the snow in front of him, a dark-green movement. As it approached, Kjolmar noticed it were two snakes. They made their way up his legs and wrapped themselves around his body. Kjolmar stayed surprisingly calm. Then again, poison ran through his veins so why should he be nervous in the first place? The snakes hissed near his ears and it was as if they could speak. "The Ash Lands are restless." they said to him. "Only Medusa's awakening can prevent the war." they continued. Kjolmar frowned at the thought of a war. Everyone knew such a battle would not end well for anyone. But he also knew the history behind Medusa. Perhaps it would be a good idea to go the Ash Lands and investigate the rumors these snakes told him before they vanished. He'd decide what to do afterwards.

He started walking downhill and cursed beneath his breath. "I really need some sort of transportation. Why couldn't I have been born with a flying skill, teleportation or even increased speed for all I care. No, I had to be stuck with the two things that keep me isolated." He stopped thinking about it and continued his way down. Then he encountered someone going in the opposite direction but crossing his path. It was a familiar face. Kjolmar blinked his eyes and sighed deeply. "You... got... to be... kidding me! What are you doing here?" He sounded irritated.

Odox 3: A New War Empty Re: Odox 3: A New War

"Get this creep away from me!" Maria yelled as she was followed by a cleanly shaven, and obviously royal, man. She kept on walking away from him, at a hurried pace too.

The blonde man held out roses to Maria, "My sweet, will you not accept my proposal? My heart is yours and yours alone!" he said, which made Maria roll her eyes.

"I don't even know you! And I don't care if you say you're the prince of this damn nation! Just leave me alone!" she continued to walk, but she was still being followed by the obsessive prince.

Maria knew that she could have just mind controlled him and told him to go pester somebody else. But she was afraid of what might happen if the king found out she used her power on the prince, so she refrained. Maria sighed, her frustration only increasing with every step the man behind her took in her tracks. "Think of what you'd gain by marrying me! You'd have money, power, and you'd be my queen and the queen of the entire nation! I don't care for the women my father recommends for me."

Maria growled and turned to him, finally losing her patience. She raised her hand and gave him a good smack across the cheek, leaving a nice red hand print where she made contact with his face. The two, bored looking, guards of the prince took some steps forward and grabbed a hold of the irritated girl. "You have assaulted Prince Leo, I place you under arr-" the guard got cut off as Leo put his hand up to halt them.

"Not under arrest, bring her to my quarters. Oh and have her put on something more... Tasteful. Have the maids find her the finest dress from my mother's wardrobe." he ordered.

Maria looked shocked, "No! Hell no! Get your damn hands off of me!" she tries shaking herself from their mailed grip, "This is like, what? The third time you've brought me to your palace? I told you, I'm not interested!"

Prince Leo chuckled, "In due time, sweet Maria. You just need to live the life of royalty first, you'll grow to it."

As the guards started forcefully escorting Maria to the palace, she started yelling out to the people around her, "Somebody help me! I'm being kidnapped by the Prince!"

By now quite the audience had been gathered. Lots of people were whispering and chuckling between themselves as they watched the events unfold, though nobody seemed to step up to help her out.

Odox 3: A New War Empty Re: Odox 3: A New War

Post by Day-Z Mon Dec 10, 2012 12:11 pm

Andromeda had been watching the scene from on high. The whole ordeal made her feel sick to her stomach. Nobody was helping. She shook her head. It wasn't pity or sadness that she felt as she looked upon the giggling, gossiping people. It was disgust. She despised them for just letting a poor girl be dragged and humiliated like that, let the deed slide and even joke about it like it was a mundane randomness.
It could have well been, however. She wasn't all that familiar with whatever it was people were doing, although in all frankness, she herself was one. She hadn't grown among them, the only people she knew were the ones back in the frozen lands, the ones who had taught her the importance of morals and the respect for all living things.

Yet as she witnessed the loathsome scene, she found herself unable to even pretend she felt any sort of respect for them. The girl was being taken away against her will and nobody was doing anything about it. And she wasn't going to be one of them. She'd be damned if she did the same thing as the rest of the idiots. What she had in mind was risky, but it was her best shot. It was better than nothing. It could earn them time, precious time to escape in the confusion.

With a firm nod, she made her way down the building into an alley. She could see the prince and the guards clearly. And she knew the place well enough to navigate it without trouble. Now if she could only play her cards right, they would be set. She felt her body arch and her bones crack as she started to shape-shift. It was still an uncomfortable process, but she had overcome the initial pain. She was starting to bond with her other side, her alter-ego, as the Shaman would put it and so the transformation came more and more naturally to her as she went.

The heat was something she hadn't foreseen. It was even worse under her thick pelt, made for snowy reliefs and harsh weather. But it was too late to back away now. Her heart started beating fast as she pushed through the crowd that was now going from irritation to surprise and eventually to panic. Screams burst all around her and she flattened her ears against her skull as she picked up speed. She needed to do whatever it was she was going to do fast.

She finally came within reasonable distance of the two guards, but that wasn't her main interest. She overtook them and headed straight for the prince. She sprang as someone behind her yelled a warning and saw Leo turn to face her. A growl escaped her throat and she unsheathed her claws, ready to dig into the prince's flesh, not with any murderous intentions, however, but enough to ruffle him a bit.
She landed, kicking dust. The prince had been faster, he had dodged her attack and was now facing her, looking half-puzzled. She shot a fast look at the girl, her tail lashing through the air as she charged once more.
Whatever little distraction that would cause for the soldiers may be enough to ensure hers and the girl's escape. All Andromeda had to do was play rough a little longer.

Odox 3: A New War Empty Re: Odox 3: A New War

"Thank you signore, this book will bring me much joy", Agostino tossed the merchant a small pouch of coins that rattled when they hit the table. The merchant looked puzzled as he picked up the pouch: "But the book is no more than two coins, this is far too much sir"

Agostino dismissed the merchant with a warm smile: "It is not for the book only, but for your kindness and your support in our cause. Stay safe my good man" Agostino made a friendly gesture with his hand and pelted off to the nearest alley: He had heard some disturbance and wanted to make sure noone was harmed. He turned a corner and, with two people staring at him like he had lost his mind, he jumped at a wall, sat off from it and grabbed the ledge of the house right across from it. He much preferred to see the crowd from an eagles perspective.

After jumping a few buildings with only a few startled birds noticing him, he found the source of the commotion: A woman was being dragged off by two guards and the same prince that had caused him and his brotherhood quite a few griefs through the years.

Agostino decided that it was best to follow them, make sure that the woman would not be harmed. Before he could do anything, and to Auditore's amusement, a snow leopard, or much rather a shape-shifter in the form of a snow leopard, came dashing towards the procession and leaped at the prince. Leo evaded the head-on attack: A trick he had been taught by a former member of the brotherhood who had been excommunicated due to his abuse of authority.

Agostino decided to act, taking a tall leap, arching above the citizens and straight for the guards: He landed behind them, kicked one of the guards in the chest and flung the other one in the opposite direction.
He turned to the young woman who had been held captive:
"I apologize if this was not a part of your plan, but I thought it necessary to act. You might want to be careful with how you punish the prince in public. Privately, however, is your choice entirely. But we must'n linger, that feline seems eager to strike"

Auditore whistled at the shape-shifter: "Signora, I say we let the captive deal with her captor, let her serve justice to this miscreant, no?"

"Will you stop following me already?" Kjolmar snapped at the girl by his side. "The odds that we run into each other at the mountains are bad enough, must you torture me more by following me on my journey?" The girl herself remained silent and rolled her eyes at him. A few minutes of silence took over the conversation, but after a while, Kjolmar stopped and faced the girl. "What the hell do you want from me?"
The girl frowned her eyebrows and looked angry at Kjolmar. "He broke up with me and I am positive it is your influence that made him do it."
Kjolmar sighed deeply and quickened his pace. "Of course, I should've known. You treat your boyfriend like garbage, he breaks up with you, and somehow it is all my fault. Look, the guy is one of the only friends I still have, I want him to be happy. As I told you before, I don't believe he can be happy with you. However, that doesn't mean your break-up is my fault. I don't control minds, you know that. In fact, I don't use any of my powers when it comes to you, otherwise you would've been poisoned a long time ago!"
Kjolmar waved his hand at her and a very subtle purple glow appeared. The girl looked furious and yelled out in the blue. "Damn it, where did you go?"
He was standing right in front of her, but his illusion trick had hidden his appearance for her, making him somewhat invisible for her eyes only. Kjolmar walked off, leaving the girl behind in her rampage.

As he continued, he heard a lot of commotion near him. When he ran there to check it out, he noticed a royal guard being kicked towards him. Kjolmar dodged the guard and looked at the scene, where he noticed a calm man, a stressed girl and.. a snow leopard?
Suddenly he was grabbed from behind by another royal guard, ready to be handcuffed. "You won't get away with this, scoundrel!"
Kjolmar, not even a part of the situation, felt wrongly accused and became upset. He twisted his hands a little so that they would touch the guard's skin and slowly but steady the guard started to turn very pale, resulting in losing his grip on Kjolmar. The guard dropped on the floor, as if his life energy was draining. Kjolmar whispered to him: "Don't cry just yet, you'll be fine in a few hours." It had never been his intention to fatally wound the guard, Kjolmar had just let enough poison hit him in order to escape.

He now turned to the two people and the feline. "Can someone tell me what I have gotten myself into this time?"

Odox 3: A New War Empty Re: Odox 3: A New War

"Just. Let. Me. Go!" Maria yelled just seconds before a snow leopard appeared from nowhere and leaped for the prince. The guards let Maria go to draw their swords and attack the leopard. Soon they were cut short by a man.

She staggered backward and fell on her rear from being taken by surprise from this sudden assault. Was this leopard his pet? Were they part of some rebel faction against the royal family? She didn't know. By now, people were either screaming in worry that their 'oh so noble prince' was in danger. While others watched with excitement at the sudden turn of events.

Another one of the princes guards gripped her firmly by the wrist, "The Prince demands your safety is a priority. I'm getting you out of here."

Maria shook her head and placed her free hand on his, "I'm not going anywhere with anybody that has 'royal' in their title." she paused, "Go find a wench and marry her!"

The guard's expression went blank and let go. "As you wish." he said flatly and walk off to the nearest tavern.

When the man turned to face her and apologize, she blinked, "Oh please don't. I appreciate being freed by this selfish pig." Maria growled and balled a fist, her eyes trained on Prince Leo.

With his attention on the ferocious snow leopard, it gave Maria the chance to tackle him when he wasn't ready. She seized the opportunity and ran straight for him. As she tackled him, placed a hand right in his face, "You're a disgusting pig and you should act like one!"

The prince laid on the ground motionless for a bit, Maria pinning him down. She didn't know if that sort of command would work. Surely enough, however, it did. Prince Leo started snorting and tried to roll around, finally achieving success of getting Maria off of him to roll on the dirty ground while snorting. He caught sight of an apple trader and charged straight at his booth; causing one hell of a mess as he hit the apple cart.

Maria's breathing was a little heavy, the audience had gone silent after witnessing their Prince do such a unsightly thing at the command of Maria's word. She looked back at them all, "You can stare for as long as you want if you wish to join his herd!" she points at Prince Leo.

People started to disperse. Maria turned to the group who had saved her and offered them all a grateful smile, including a new person who looked like he had given a guard a bad cold. "Thanks. I mean it... But um... I'm not entirely sure how long my power lasts, I only discovered it the other day. I'm getting out of here before the Prince realizes what I just did to him. Chances are he'll send his troops after me when he snaps out of it."

Maria turned and started heading away, until she suddenly stopped with a sigh. She looked over her shoulder to the three of them, "Eh... I think I might be in better hands with you." she nodded to them all, waiting for one of them to pick a way of escape.

Odox 3: A New War Empty Re: Odox 3: A New War

Post by Cal Wed Dec 12, 2012 11:16 pm

While the girl -who appeared to have some sort of mind control ability- explained her situation, Kjolmar was occupied by another hissing voice in his head, similar to the ones of the snakes. Except this time, he didn't see any snake at all. It echoed in his mind: "Kjooollmaarrrr... If you don't free Medussssa... every living creature in Odoxx will die..."

Kjolmar shook his head as if that would make the voices stop, while at the same time trying not to let anyone notice it. However, the voices continued. "Look behind the lemmmon treeee to your lefttt..."

They stopped. He couldn't help but peek to the left and indeed there was a lemon tree. Curiosity made him look behind the tree and what he found was an odd little book. There was no time to read it yet, though. They had to get out of there. However, the others had no doubt noticed him picking up the book. He had to think of something that wouldn't reveal the voices in his head, they'd think he was going mad. Dangerous even, perhaps.
"Look what I found, I'm stealing this in order to sell it, serves that Prince right for being such a dickhead."
Kjolmar wasn't exactly a thief, but what else was he supposed to say?

"Let's get out of here, shall we?"

Odox 3: A New War Empty Re: Odox 3: A New War

Post by Day-Z Thu Dec 13, 2012 4:52 am

The series of events that followed her daring attempt to rescue the girl puzzled her some. First, she was approached by a man who moved fast enough and with such precision that she wondered if he was human or some other odd combination of races, such as herself. Moreover, he was witty, quick in realizing that she was more than just the shape she was displaying for the sake of keeping her identity hidden from the guards and other witnesses who may prove dangerous at a later time. She liked taking precautions, just to be on the safe side. She didn't have the spirit of an adventurer, a thirst for risk and danger, she wasn't an adrenaline junkie, she was merely a seeker, her only interest and quest was on the path of knowledge and she had a weak spot for riddles, as a general rule. But she agreed with one thing the other girl had said - they were better off together now that they had somehow attracted each other in the same kind of mess.
What was she thinking, anyway?

Her eyes widened with curiosity as she saw the other man shaking his head, as though attempting to get rid of some pestering buzzer - with the only exception that there was no such thing to be seen. Even insects seemed to be in shelter on such a hot day. Was his distress linked to possible abilities? Perhaps. Maybe he was still trying to figure out how to master whatever abilities he had. She thought she had seen some bit of what he could do only minutes ago. Which reminded her that, at that particular time and place, with an ill-minded prince who grunted like a pig, stunned guards and panicked civilians all bound to turn on them once they made some sense of the situation and snapped out of whatever was clouding their mind, the least thing she wanted was to stick around.

She closed her eyes and allowed herself to come back to her former shape. She panted a bit as her bones followed their cracking ritual dutifully and winced as she flexed her fingers and put her wrists' mobility to the test. As she did so, one of the afore-mentioned males approached them, holding a strange book in his hand. His intentions for it were to sell it.
"You just want to sell it? Before consulting it?" She asked as she looked at the man with the strange accent who had addressed her before and the girl who was at the core of the situation, as though she expected them to oppose the idea of getting rid of a book that might have held valuable information before leafing through it at the very least.

Odox 3: A New War Empty Re: Odox 3: A New War

Post by Cal Sat Dec 15, 2012 12:33 am

As they got out of sight from the royal threat, Kjolmar knew that the shapeshifter wouldn't forget about the book. She had been too eager to know it's content in order to let it slip her mind. Therefor, he brought it back up and opened it while all could see. "The cheetah is right." he said, nodding to the snow leopard, fully aware he was using the wrong name. "We must consult it."

While he opened, it became clear what kind of book it was. It had history and geography on Odox, about anything they could teach you about Odox was in there. Not in detail, though, there were many referrals to other books. "Wow, this says there used to be Dwarves in the Frost Mountains! I never knew that!"

Kjolmar turned some pages and got to a page about the Ash Lands. He remembered the snakes at the Frost Mountains. With slight doubt, he spoke up. "Ehm, guys, I overheard someone say something about this place. Their words were literally: The Ash Lands are restless. Do you think something is going on there?" And again, he didn't mention Medusa at all, although he did see in the index that there was a whole chapter on her. "It says the Ash Lands has been the battlefield of both Great Wars in our history, both Beast and the Demigods were finally defeated in this place." He let his finger glide over the page almost all the way to the bottom, where their current date was. "The Fourth Age." he read out loud.

*The First Age (pre-roleplay)involved the creation of Odox, when civilized creatures did not exist yet.
*The Second Age (Odox 1) started with the conflict between the Great Dragon and Beast, and ended with the slaughter of Beast.
*The Third Age (Odox 2) involved the Demigods and at their demise, Odox was ready for their fourth timeline.

"It says that currently the Dragons live in the Ash Lands. It is unknown if they have a connection with the Great Dragon from our history. Wait, here, I think I may have found something. The Dragons are in conflict with a race called the Odixi, creatures that resemble angels. It is unknown what the reason of this conflict is."
Kjolmar noticed a referral to Medusa at the bottom of the page, it referred to another page. He pretended he didn't saw it.
"So do I get this straight? The last remainders of the Great Dragon, who was like the symbol of all that is good in Odox, are at war with angel-like creatures. So good is fighting good? That doesn't make any sense!"

Odox 3: A New War Empty Re: Odox 3: A New War

Post by Day-Z Sun Jan 13, 2013 3:41 am

The girl grimaced slightly as the man used the term 'cheetah' on her, but she did nothing to correct him. There was something about him that told her he was the type to want to annoy the people around him just to get his giggles out of their displeasure with him. And she would not enable that.
As he opened the book, she leaned slightly forward, trying to see the writing herself, but was still careful to maintain some sort of distance from him, as her instincts were telling her it was not safe to put too much trust into strangers, even though the other girl and the cloaked man did not seem the sly kind - well, at least, they didn't seem to be ill-intentioned people, which could not be said about the current reader of the book.

"It does make sense." She stated in response to Kjolmar's reaction. "Good and evil are relative. Even though they are suggested as creatures belonging to the good side, two races seeing eye to eye at all times is very unlikely. Furthermore, good can be corrupted, but since we have no further details, it is hard to form any theory at all."
She stated, her fingers reaching for the book.

"May I borrow it for a moment?" The girl asked as politely as possible, so as to not offend the man by suggesting that he would not be attentive enough to observe every detail of the book.
